Brief

George A. Adib is a photonics researcher, and educator working at the intersection of applied science and practical innovation, with 10+ experience in optical design and research in the fields of photonics and sensors. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications Engineering, with a focus on signal processing techniques, particularly wavelet-based methods for compact MEMS FTIR spectrometers. His work tackles real-world challenges in sensing, with applications ranging from health monitoring to environmental analysis.

He currently serves as a assistant professor at Ain Shams University, where he teaches and supervises courses in optics, and signals and systems. He is passionate about making complex ideas accessible, and about connecting theory with engineering practice.

His interests span optical system modeling, silicon photonics, quantum optics, and the use of light in sustainable technologies, especially in the areas of energy, water, and health. He is also exploring how photonics can be better taught—through interactive tools, experimental setups, and purpose-driven course design.
