نبذة مختصرة
تخرج الدكتور أيمن حسين عام 1990 من كلية الهندسة جامعة عين شمس وعين بها معيدا وتدرج في السلك الجامعي وصولا الي أستاذ في عام 2008. تخصص الأستاذ الدكتور أيمن حسين في المنشأت الخرسانية المسلحة وسابقة الاجهاد وله العديد من الابحاث المنشورة في تلك الموضوعات (أكثر من 100 بحث). يشغل الدكتور أيمن حاليا رئيس مجلس قسم الهندسة الانشائية.
الجوائز التقديرية
1998: Research Excellence Award for outstanding research (Iowa State University).
1998: Finalist for the Skidmore, Owings and Morill foundation for structural engineers.
1997: First prize co-winner of the Mid-America Transportation Center (MATC).
1997: Scholarship from MATC during the academic year 1996-97 "Transportation Scholar".
1996: Reviewer for several papers for ASCE JOURNAL OF BRIDGE ENGINEERING
1990-1994: Graduate Students tuition waiver fellowship from Ain Shams University.
1986-1990: The Excellence Award for Undergraduate Students, Egyptian Government.

المشاريع البحثية
1) Worked for Ames National Laboratory to assess the structural stability of nuclear containments. Specifically, worked to assess the buckling capacity of cylindrical and spherical steel containments during earthquake events as well as the strength, serviceability, and stability limit states of reinforced concrete shield buildings subject to earthquakes, bombing, and missile attacks.
2) Designed the shield building for the nuclear reactor AP 600 for Ames National Laboratory. Client was GE.
3) Designed and implemented experimental tests on IOWA DOT bridges to evaluate a method to prevent fatigue cracking in diaphragm/plate girder connections in steel bridges. Experimental testing locations were determined using the finite element analysis on detailed models (40,000 to 60,000 degrees of freedom per bridge) of the tested bridges.
4) Designed and conducted modal tests on steel plate girder bridges to assess their global condition and to establish the discrimination limits of modal testing as a continuous monitoring tool. Further, assessed the capability of the method to locate and size cracks in different types of bridges using experimental and theoretical tools.
5) Designed and conducted modal tests on a sport facility owned by Iowa State University to assess its dynamic behavior and to reduce the human discomfort caused by excessive vibrations.
